My September One Week Holidays

My September one week holidays were great!

I got to stay in a fabulous condominium with a great swimming pool.

We brought lots of stuff as we were not staying in a hotel.

It was so cool!

I even brought my piano there too practice!

We swam every day.

I am so sad holidays past so quickly.

One school day is like a million years while a week of holidays are like only 1 hour!

I am looking forward to my December holidays but then I'll have to take my Abacus exam.

Last year I went to Hong Kong and missed the exam...

It cost $20 and NO refund...

A Memorial Trip to Singapore's NDP Preveiw

On Saturday, 11th July 2009, we were to arrive at school at 2:00pm for an excursion to watch Singapore's National Day Parade Preview.

I brought along a Hello Kitty Bag with these things inside it: a water bottle, some bread, sweets, a poncho, a cap and most importantly, a thermometer.

Why is the thermometer so important?

Its the H1N1 period!

If we take our temperatures and realize we have a fever, we are not allowed to enter the stadium.

I was sooo excited!

On that day, I reached the school, took our temperature and waited for a long, long time.

Finally, our class set off.

In the bus, my friend played with a hand phone.

Oh yes! I brought also brought along a Sony hand phone which my mother borrowed from her colleague with lots of phones which she doesn't need.

It was very cool having a phone for my own as I do not have one.

We alighted at the Esplanade ( a Singapore tourist attraction), and started walking all the way to the Marina Floating Stadium.

It was a long, long way (by foot).

Along the way, we saw dark and heavy clouds coming our way.

We predicted it would rain, because we were so hot, but it did not.

When we reached the stadium, it then started to rain.

Our seats were wet and we were forced to seat on them.

I did not expect it to rain, but I didn't know more was coming our way!

We were told to put on our ponchos and we did.

About two minutes later, the drizzle stopped.

We took out our ponchos.

We again waited until 5:00pm for the show to start.

Meanwhile, we received out fun pack.

It was packed with some fun stuff that we use in the show like the drum with a drumstick in the shape of a cute bean and a heart that could light up in either red or white.

If everybody turns on their 'hearts', believe me, look around and its really, really beautiful.

Too bad I can't capture it on the camera from my phone.

Everything was far too small.

The fun pack was also filled with lots of sweets, a magazine, tattoos, a rubbish bag, an extra poncho, packet drinks and of course, Singapore's National Flag,

The show started.

We saw the Red Line, a parachuting team which parachuted from a very high distance.

We saw the dances, formations, the marching , the acting and of course the constant fireworks that appeared at every ending of a 'chapter'.

Mark Lee and Michelle Chong was there!

Once in a while it drizzled and as usual only for a few minutes, so I decided that during the next drizzle, I would not put on my poncho.

Who knows? The next drizzle was didn't stop and instead became a downpour!

I was drenched from my head to my sloppy toes and so were my friends.

The weird thing is that the downpour came exactly at the final fireworks!

It was the first heavy downpour for Singapore since the hot seasons of May and June.

I was struggling to put on my poncho and look at the beautiful fireworks and cover my ears at the same time.

Too bad I couldn't cover my ears.

It was the first time I did not cover my ears and I enjoyed it very much.

It was a great experience being showered with heavy rain and confetti under the light and sound of the fireworks.

When it was over, we had to wait in the rain for all the people to disperse and then we could go.

We kept complaining and groaning about being so cold and 'I didn't expect this!', but underneath I knew this was the experience of my life and was extremely fun.

We walked to where we alighted before and boarded the bus.

We were delayed and my parents were already waiting for me in school.

I fetched my friend home as the rain was too heavy for her parents to fetch her.

Oh yes, and my fun pack was totally wet, especially the magazine, torn and soggy.

It was really a good experience and I am really very lucky to be a Singaporean Primary 5 this year to get to watch the show and experience the DOWNPOUR!

Heart Rate Calculator Resting Heart Rate

  • The heart is a muscle

  • Its located in at the middle-lift of your body

  • Its about the size of a fist

  • The heart provides your body with the oxygen and nutrients it needs

  • It collects waste, such as carbon dioxide

  • The right side of a heart receives blood from the body and pumps it to the lungs

  • The left side of your heart receives blood from the lungs and pumps it out to the body

  • The heart is made of four chambers, two on each side of the heart

  • The two chambers at the top are called atria (ay-tree-uh)

  • The two chambers at the bottom are called ventricles

  • There is a thick wall of muscle called the septum running down the middle of the heart to seperate the left and right side of the heart

  • Arteries carry blood away from the heart

  • Veins carry blood back to the blood the heart

Heat

In physics, heat is the process of energy transfer from one body or system to another due to a difference in temperature.
A related term is thermal energy, loosely defined as the energy of a body that increases with its temperature. Heat is also loosely referred to as thermal energy, although many definitions require this thermal energy to actually be in the process of movement between one body and another to be technically called heat (otherwise, many sources prefer to continue to refer to the static quantity as "thermal energy"). Heat is also known as "Energy".
Energy transfer by heat can occur between objects by radiation, conduction and convection. Temperature is used as a measure of the internal energy or enthalpy, that is the level of elementary motion giving rise to heat transfer. Energy can only be transferred by heat between objects - or areas within an object - with different temperatures (as given by the zeroth law of thermodynamics). This transfer happens spontaneously only in the direction of the colder body (as per the second law of thermodynamics). The transfer of energy by heat from one object to another object with an equal or higher temperature can happen only with the aid of a heat pump, which does work.

Cells in the Human Body for Kids

Everybody in the world is made up of cells.

Cells are basically the building blocks of life!

Human cells contain three main parts: Cytoplasm, Nucleus and the cell membrane.

Cell membrane: controls the stuff that goes in and out of the cell(carbon dioxide, oxygen...etc)

Nucleus: Controls the activities of the cell

Cytoplasm: A jelly-like substance which contains the other parts of the cell with other functions

The biggest cell in the human body is the egg cell.
There are about three hundred to five hundred trillions of cells in our body!

An average cell is about three-hundredth of a millimeter wide!

A plant cell however, has a cell membrane, a nucleus, cytoplasm and a cell wall and chloropolasts.

Cell wall: Protects the cell and gives it a regular shape

Chloroplast: Contains chlorophyll and helps the plant to photosynthesise

Cells undergo cell division, also known as mitosis.

When cells undergo this process, it copies its nucleus and splits into two identical cells with the same DNA.

As they multiply, you would grow bigger.

Many cells form a tissue.

Many tissues form an organ.

Several organs form an organ system.

Sprite and Coca Cola

Yesterday, I had the most unforgettable weekend.

After my abacus class, which lasted for about two and a half hours, my father gave my sister and I a mysterious surprise.

Guess what? We were going to the Fort Canning Park to pick Sago seeds!

This was what happened:

We were listening to a CD about Chinese poems in the car and they happened to talk about Sago seeds that are in the shape of a heart and could be given to someone to show that you miss them.

When we reached there, we climbed up a steep hill and picked a whole container of Sago seeds.

After that, we went to Funan Centre to eat dinner at Food Junction.

After the delicious food, we went to Challenger to take a look.

On that day, we had Sprite and Cola.

I had a happy weekend. :)

My P5 Adventure Camp

On 19th, 20th and 21st of January, I went for a P5 adventure camp!

The whole P5 was to go, compulsory, unless of medical reasons.

I went with two big bags and came back with more because I don't know how to squeeze everything in like my mother did.

I went for rock climbing, dragon boating and sea rafting!

It was so fun!

It was the first time I went into the deep blue sea where my feet can't even feel the seabed.

Of course, I was wearing a life jacket because I don't know how to swim.

I discovered that I love the feel (and the taste) of the seawater.

The rock climbing was pretty scary so I didn't climb to the top.

We slept in dormitories in the second level.

Almost the whole place was sandy and had the smell of the seawater.

When we were leaving the place, we still had to clean the dustbins that we used, and pick up rubbish that were left behind by others.

It was really disgusting.

Even though, it still left good memories for me.
