My Family's History

While we were eating breakfast, my mother told me some true stories about my mother's father's father, in other words, my great grandfather.

My great grandfather owned a restaurant, was a trader and was a firework expert.

Before the war, they bought a 150kg packet of rice to survive the war.

Unfortunately, he was caught by the Japanese soldiers and suffered alot.

But the Japanese heard that he was a firework expert and asked him to build an explosive, but my great grandfather refused.

After much discussion, the Japanese soldiers asked him to built a tiny explosive to deflate a tyre.

My great grandfather had no choice but to call all his workers to help make this explosive.

This was a good thing too, because after this collaboration, my great grandfather had great relationship with the Japanese soldiers and did not suffer alot.

The Holidays are Almost Over

Awww...

Only four more days to school!

I am so nervous...

Who is my new teacher?

Who are my new classmates?

Are they what I hope for?

Will there be alot of homework?

So many questions to ask!

I hope 2009 would be better than 2008...

I feel that when we do the things we don't like to do, time passes by very quickly.

But when we do the things we love, a whole month passes so quickly!

2008's December holiday was the best because I had been to the most places these holidays.

My Sleepover at My Neighbour's

Yesterday was Christmas and I enjoyed it very much.

First, my presents were cool!

My gugu gave me a secret diary and so did my auntie.

My grandma gave me a cross-stitch kit.

Next, my sister and I slept over at my neighbours house for the first time!

We played games and the next morning, we ate breakfast there too!

It was the greatest Christmas ever!

Summery:
Four kids were on a school trip learning about history. They took the wrong way and found a busker with a lyre singing about a person they have just learned about-Eurydice(Yuri-Di-Chee). When the children asked who he was, he claimed he was Orpheus, a three thousand year old goddess. They helped him find the hidden door to the Hades to get Eurydice, his beloved back. Would the Lord of Hades let her go? Read the book to find out! I think this book is interesting and amusing, especially Well'ard.

I'm Back From Hong Kong!

I'm back from Hong Kong!

Let me tell you about my trip...

When I was on the aeroplane to Hong Kong, I felt dizzy and my ear felt like it was going to pop.

I was welcomed by a famous actor from Hong Kong, Nancy Sit. （家燕）

On the second day, I visited the TVB studio.

On the third day, we went to...

Disneyland!

It was so fun!

I love the Space Mountain ( roller coaster) and Mad hatter's Teacups.

I just simply love it!

In the teacup ride, other teacups have stopped spinning except us!

The fireworks there was marvelous!

On the last day we went to the Science Museum in HK and the History Museum, followed by a secondary school, QualiEd College.

Amelia Bedelia and the Baby- Book Review

Summery:
Amelia Bedelia was given the job to baby-sit Missy. She was reluctant at first but she was told that babies were the same as children and Amelia Bedelia loves children. She decided to take the job but she makes a mess out of it. Instructions were given to put baby powder on Missy but instead she puts it on herself!

When Mr and Mrs Lane came back she scolded Amelia Bedelia for what she did but when Missy started crying, she only wanted Amelia Bedelia. Mrs Lane realised that there was something that Amelia Bedelia knew that she doesn't and hopes she would come again.

This is a funny and amusing story for children to enjoy.

Famous Five( Five on a Secret Trail)- Book Review

Title: Famous Five-Five on a Secret Trail

Author: Enid Blyton

Characters: George( Georgina), Anne, Timmy the dog, Julian and Dick.

Summery:
Anne and George were bored having a holiday without their favourite cousins, Julian and Dick, and George was convinced that there would be no mystery to solve without her to cousins around. A few days later, Julian and Dick arrived at Kirrin Cottage to join George and Anne! Poor Timmy had cut his ear and had to wear a cardboard collar and everyone that saw him teased and laughed at him. George was fed up and decided to camp out with her cousins. While they were camping, they discovered a gang of thieves were planning to steal some valuable blueprints! Find out whether the five solved the mystery... I think this story is a little scary but they exaggerate the story so that it is very exciting!

The Mystery of the Pantomime Cat- Book Review

Title: The Mystery of the Pantomime Cat

Author: Enid Blyton

Characters: Fatty( Frederic), Bets( Elizabeth), Pip, Larry, Daisy, Buster the Dog, Mr Goon( Old Clear-orf), Pantomime cat( Boysie), Zoe, Alec Grant, Peter Watting, William Orr, Lucy White and PC Pippin.

Summery:
Fatty and the four 'Find- Outers' decided to set up a pretend mystery for the new police officer, PC Pippin. But another mystery was in the making! The manager of the Little Theater was drugged to sleep and his money was stolen from the safe behind a wall mirror. Mr Goon, forced poor Boysie to make a false confession. I think this book is very exciting and you don't know what is going to happen next. I enjoy reading Enid Blyton books.

The Mystery of the Missing Necklace- Book Review

Title: The Mystery of the Missing Necklace

Characters: Fatty( Frederic), Daisy, Larry, Bets( Elizabeth), Pip, Buster the dog and Mr Goon( old Clear-orf).

Summery:

The 'Five Find-Outers' as they call themselves are on to a mystery again! Fatty the best disguiser in the group, disguises himself into a balloon woman followed by a short, sniffing old man who is a message bearer of the dangerous gang of thieves who stole a very expensive diamond necklace from the museum and many others. The Five Find-Outers soon tackled who the five thieves were, and they also searched the waxworks gallery from head to toe to find the missing necklace.Guess who found it? Little nine year-old Bets! Where did she find it? On the neck of the waxwork figure Queen Elizabeth! I think this story is very interesting and once you start the book you can't put it down until you've finished! I really look forward to reading more of Enid Blyton books. Get the book to read a more detailed version.

Trip to Genting and First Ride on Roller Coaster

On 15-18 of November, I was enjoying at Genting Highlands.

Genting is on a Mountain in Malaysia and its touching the clouds!

The temperature there was colder than in Singapore.

There were two theme parks there: Indoor theme park and Outdoor theme park.

My family booked the 'All Park (full day)' ticket.

That means that as long as we have that ticket, we can play in both theme parks from 8.00am to 12.00pm!

I sat on the Corkscrew( outdoor roller coaster that goes upside down) once, adult bumper car twice, Euro Express( indoor roller coaster) twice, Gondola( boat) once, Ferris wheel once, antique car once, mini train once, reindeer ride once, Space Shot( a ride that goes so high you can see all the buildings then goes down super fast and takes your breath away) once and the Spinner once.

Wow! I took so many rides!

I came home feeling nauseous.

Hong Kong Trip and Video Training

In school, there is this video training and Hong Kong trip.

We are supposed to go for a video training to learn how to sing a song about Mama Earth.

We also learn some video camera* tricks and tips.

We will then choose the people to be presenter, props, makeup artist camera crew and the singers and actors.

I chose to be a singer in the chinese team.

The song goes something like this: "Hands together, hearts together, ......"

I do not regret choosing chinese because I think it is more interesting than the English song.

In Hong Kong, we would be sleeping in hotels with our two other roommates.

I'm so excited....

Yay!

Yay! My exams are finally over!

Guess how much I got for maths!

Its the highest of the marks I have got since start of school!

I feel so relaxed!

Now I can play the computer for hours!

Rainy Day

Whoa! Yesterday, it was the rainiest day I ever seen, heard and felt.

The storm was huge!

My sister and I were on our way to the school bus stop.

Even though we took the sheltered way, we still got wet from head to toe in the heavy storm.

Really! Our hair was wet, our uniform was wet and even our shoes and socks were wet!

But it was nevertheless quite fun.

The wind blew us and it was very cooling.

At school, the hall was too wet for us to sit down so we were instructed to return to our classrooms to say our pledge.

Coincidentally, I was having an excursion to Science Center that day.

One of my FUSSY friends took of her shoes and socks in school, in Science Center and back at school again.

This day was really amazing.

The Bash Street Kids - Book Review

There are 3 stories in this book.

The first one, 'Anything for Charity', is about these 'bad' children having a plan of playing football for charity purpose. Their motive is to escape from their boring lessons and to go out and play football.

The second story,'The Party Project', is about Smiffy(a very forgetful boy), who thought that that day was his birthday. The whole class except Cuthbert(the goodie), plans to set up a trap on Teacher and get out of class to find costume for the fancy dress party for Smiffy. Read to find out what happens!

The third story 'Nature Nightmare' is about Teacher, who is fed up with the class sleeping during lessons, suggested about setting a nature trail for them. Join them on their whacky adventures when you read the book!=)

Trip to IMM

Yesterday, we went to IMM at Jurong.

You might wonder why I only write the next day after the trip...

That's because after such a tiring day I will fall asleep even before I can blog.

Anyway, I went to IMM yesterday and had a really fun time!

There were two playgrounds there, one wet and one dry.

My sister and I played both.

The dry playground had a few slides and there was this spinning thing that made me really giddy.

At the water playground, there were water guns and water windmills.

I got wet all over but was still very fun.

I really enjoyed my day.

Swimming

Today, we went to Safra Mount Faber.

We went there to swim in the glorious swimming pool.

Since my swimming lesson in school this year, I began to love swimming.

Before the compulsory lessons, I don't even dare to put my head in the water.

Now, I can swim a little of freestyle and frog style.

After swimming, my sister and I felt hungry so we went to Ya Kun Toast to have a snack.

We ate some kaya bread, eggs, coffee and some drinks.

It was really delicious.

On the way back in the car, my father kept saying "Can you feel the toast in your mouth? Can you feel the sweetness of the kaya? Can you feel the butter melting in your mouth?"

A Day at Courts

Yesterday, my family went to the Courts in Tampines.

My parents went shopping while my sister and I went to the 'Play' corner.

It was really fun and the whole room was filled with electronic stuff including computers and Xbox.

My sister and I used the computers and played games.

I played 'Nanny in Paradise', 'Feeding Frenzy' and some other games.

It was really fun!

We listened to music too!

I hope that we can go there again.

School has started!

The holidays are gone and school has started!

Let me tell you all about it...

I like my new form teacher, Miss Peh.

She is very kind and pretty too!

This year, there would be a Physical Health Test.

So, every Wednesday, my class would go for PE (that means physical education).

And you know what?

We have to run all around the school and do swimmers (that's a type of exercise) 25 times!

Everybody would stare at us as if we were doing a show!

Another thing I did was learn swimming.

Last time I didn't even dare put my head under water, and now I can even dive into the deep pool!
